Once you go live from your room (see Go live) you can use the stage to host voice and video discussions with your room visitors.
Start the stage
Open your stage on desktop or mobile by tapping “start stage.”
Connect your camera
Select a camera source from the camera menu if you want to show your camera. You will need to share camera permissions with your browser or your phone to access it in Playback.
There are a few camera settings to know about:
- Spotlight: You can choose one stage participant to emphasize by tapping the spotlight button on their camera.
- Mirror camera: This setting controls how your camera appears to you only, but does not impact how others in the room see you. We’ll always show your camera to viewers in the natural orientation. Some cameras will flip the orientation of your camera like a mirror, e.g. text on your wall will read right to left. Turn on “mirror camera” to flip the way you look for yourself.
You can stream with your camera off. That’s cool too!
Connect your mic
Select a mic source from the mic menu if you want to speak. You will need to share microphone permissions with your browser or your phone to access it in Playback.
Invite speakers to the stage
The Playback stage is designed for community participation and you’re in control of who gets to speak. Anyone you’ve granted the Creator role to can start and join your room’s stage whenever they want. Everyone else must be invited.
There are two ways to bring guests up on stage.
- Invite: Tap the “+” button next to the stage to select any room member to invite to your stage.
- Accept requests: Any room member can tap “request to join stage” to get your attention.
After requesting an invite, you’ll see an alert on the stage notification button. Tap the stage notification to see who has requested a stage invite and accept or reject.
Moderate the stage
You can remove stage participants from the stage or temporarily mute them. Tap on the stage participant to reveal stage actions.
Playback makes it easy to turn your viewers into streamers so you can co-create your stream with your community!
